HSC is excited to announce the appointment of Brian Laur as the new Director of Insurance Services. Brian comes to his new role with a wealth of experience in not only insurance and risk management, but also direct experience and insight into the complex issues and challenges faced by providers in managing risk.
Before coming to HSC, Brian served for eight years as the Risk Manager for Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC), where he put a strong emphasis on customer service and clear communication. “My approach at TCHC for staff and service providers is to consider departments, staff and tenants as clients providing the same level of service as if we were operating an independent operation” says Brian. At TCHC, he also led a risk management intern program for young tenants, which resulted in the hiring of a claims coordinator who had a deep understanding of the organization from a tenant perspective. Before TCHC, Brian worked as a Senior Risk Management Analyst for the City of Toronto.
“With HSC’s newly restructured group insurance program going into motion this year, I’m eager to get started, to get to know our customers and to help them not just with insurance but with practical approaches to overall risk management,” says Brian.
