Introducing HSC’s New Chair: NEWS RELEASE

Posted on March 15, 2017 by HSC

Bill Bradica, Chief Administrative Officer of the District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board, has been selected to be the next Board Chair of a provincial organization that delivers services to affordable housing providers.

The Housing Services Corporation (HSC) helps affordable housing providers by offering services that help control energy costs; manage fire and safety risks; share best practices in managing and maintaining building portfolios; and use information technology to improve their operations.

Bradica’s term as Board Chair begins on April 1, 2017. He first joined the board in April 2015 and has played an active role since then, providing insight on housing issues unique to the North to help shape HSC’s services. His nomination for Chair was supported by the Northern Ontario Service Deliverers Association as well as the TBDSSAB Board of Directors.

Bradica brings to his role 15 years of experience in progressively senior positions at TBDSSAB as well as a prior background in financial management and housing development in both the private and public sector.

“In recent years, HSC has made big strides in making affordable housing more efficient so that public tax dollars go further. They’ve done this behind the scenes — working with DSSABs, municipalities and non-profit housing providers to keep insurance costs low; helping control heating and utility costs with services that help conserve energy; and helping deliver major building repair and retrofit projects on time and on budget with their specialized project management expertise.” Bradica noted.

“HSC is currently taking important steps to make Ontario’s affordable housing sector more entrepreneurial and less reliant on government funding. They recognize the community need for more affordable housing and to repair existing buildings. They understand that new business approaches are required. I’m excited to serve as HSC’s Chair as they move into the next phase of their evolution and the federal national housing strategy unfolds,” he added.

“We’re pleased to welcome Bill as our next chair,” says Howie Wong, CEO of HSC. “His experience with housing at the federal, provincial and local level as well as his desire to improve the system, will give us the perspective we need to help local governments and non-profits deliver better housing,” he adds.
