Creating meaningful opportunities for people, neighbourhoods and communities to succeed.
Social Innovation & Partnerships at HSC is focused on developing partnerships and leveraging new funding sources for social innovation for the housing sector; and generating innovative, value-added programs and services for providers and tenants.
START is an innovative pilot project that will help up to 500 low-income Ontarians living in social housing (or on the social housing waiting list) build personal assets. Participants will receive case management supports and financial literacy training in addition to a financial incentive for saving. Their savings over a two-year period will be matched at a rate of 3:1.
Based on the original School for Social Entrepreneurs in the United Kingdom, the School for Social Entrepreneurs – Ontario (SSE-O) is an innovative educational and entrepreneurial program that provides action-based learning and skill development for entrepreneurs attempting to launch their own social venture. The object of the program is to provide the skills, experience and opportunities that enable people to use their creative and entrepreneurial skills more fully for social benefit in their communities, and to contribute to a new model for prosperity in Ontario.
