Providers need to manage rising utility costs and make smart choices about conservation, energy efficiency and green sustainable practices.

To help them do so, HSC created GLOBE to act as a portal to expertise, education and to utility programs/incentives that are available to the affordable housing community. GLOBE’s products and services connect housing providers, Service Managers, property managers and tenants with the tools and services they need to improve the performance of buildings and produce a more livable environment.

Partnering with community groups and utility companies, GLOBE’s environmental and housing experts offer training, community engagement and program delivery support for a broad range of conservation initiatives that help transform the sector into an energy-efficient, vibrant and sustainable community.

Recognition for GLOBE initiatives:

GLOBE’s Community Champion Program has been recognized by World Habitat Awards, the Green Toronto Awards, Natural Resources Canada, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the Canadian Electricity Association, the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario and the Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association. Its network is now active in over 56 communities across Ontario.

Results

Through its work with local energy distribution companies and other energy sector partners, GLOBE has reduced electricity demand by approximately 6.8 Megawatts.
