Asset Management Centre (AMC)

Much of the province’s social housing stock is aging and building conditions are becoming an increasingly important area for concern. Essential capital repairs are not systematically being completed because of limited staff capacity and the growing gap between capital repair costs and available dollars. This poses significant risks to resident safety, legal liability, as well as the vitality of surrounding communities.

Ontario’s social housing sector, municipalities and the provincial government established the Asset Management Centre (AMC) to address these challenges by:

  1. Setting standards and developing a framework for the maintenance and improvement of social housing buildings
  2. Developing and enhancing greater capacity in the management of capital assets through the provision of education, tools and resources.

AMC Resources

FRAME (Fundamental Resources for Asset Management Excellence)

FRAME (Fundamental Resources for Asset Management Excellence) is a basic framework of best practices for the maintenance and improvement of community housing buildings. It helps housing providers develop strong asset management practices in four key areas: capital planning and preventive maintenance within a framework of environmental sustainability and workplace safety.

Web-Based Upgrade to the AMC Capital Reserve Fund Forecasting Tool

Allows housing providers and service managers to update and manage building data, run various scenarios and print reports and charts. Many housing providers require that their engineering consultants use this tool in preparing Replacement Reserve Fund Studies. A web-based upgrade of the AMC capital reserve fund forecasting tool will provide much greater functionality and flexibility through a centralized data repository and less dependence on software compatibility.
